In true Christianity, people are set free from the perpetual bondage of the treadmill of performance to meet their perceived standard of spiritual perfection. This treadmill is the foundation of virtually all of the world's religions. Follower of these faith systems are always in the state of becoming, of not yet having arrived at their finished goals. Through Christ who spoke the words that bridged heaven and earth: "It is finished" (John 19:30), God gives us a way to jump off this treadmill. What else is there to do to inherit eternal life if it is finished? Whatever our spiritual needs are, God gives us in Christ. Need of forgiveness? Need of rest? Need of burden lifted? Need of meaning? Need of everlasting life? All found in Christ. It is written in Romans 8:32: "Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?"
